Bloodless Medicine Program

An Alternative to Blood Transfusions in Orangeburg

The Regional Medical Center offers bloodless medicine as a special service to patients who wish to avoid the use of human blood products.

There can be many reasons for this choice, and RMC is sensitive to each patient’s cultural, ethical, religious and personal needs. RMC’s Bloodless Medicine Program ensures that this choice is honored throughout the patient’s stay.

Bloodless Medicine is an advanced way of providing medical care without using donor blood products. Bloodless medicine utilizes state-of-the-art techniques to minimize a patient’s blood loss before, during and after treatments for many illnesses. This approach permits doctors to care for patients without using additional blood products because each patient retains enough of his or her own blood.
