Express Care Administers COVID-19 Vaccine Every Friday

RMC Offers 3rd dose of Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine
for Those Who Are Eligible at Express Care

No registration is required. Parental consent will be required for anyone under 18 years old. Third dose will be administered on a first-come, first-serve, walk-in basis.

Pfizer-BioNTech (ages 12 years and older) and Moderna (ages 18 years and older) vaccine available as 3rd dose for those who have previously received the initial two doses and meet one of the below criteria.

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), eligible individuals may choose which vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna) they receive as a 3rd dose. CDC recommendations now allow for this type of mix and match dosing for 3rd dose shots.

  • 3rd Dose Note: Some individuals may have a preference for their 3rd dose vaccine type that is different than the vaccine they originally received for dose 1 and 2. CDC’s recommendations now allow for this type of mix and match dosing for 3rd dose shots.
  • Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) Vaccine Recipients: Those who received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine at least 2 months ago may receive a 2nd dose at RMC of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine.

Eligible for a 3rd dose includes those:

1. 18 - 64 years old and at risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission, and received the 2nd dose at least six months ago, or
2. 65 years and older, and received the 2nd dose at least six months ago, or
3. Immunocompromised individuals with certain medical conditions or those receiving treatments that are associated with moderate to severe immune compromise (Pfizer available for 12 years and older who received the 2nd dose at least 28 days ago):

  • Active/recent treatment for tumors or hematologic malignancies/cancers of the blood. (Hematologic malignancies are cancers that affect the blood, bone marrow, and lymph nodes. This classification includes various types of leukemia (acute lymphocytic (ALL), chronic lymphocytic (CLL), acute myeloid (AML), chronic myeloid (CML)), myeloma, and lymphoma (Hodgkin's and non-Hodgkin's (NHL)).
  • Other hematologic/blood disorder, which can cause a compromised immune system.
  • Received a solid-organ transplant and taking medication to suppress the immune system.
  • Received a stem cell transplant within the last 2 years or taking medication to suppress the immune system.
  • Moderate or severe primary immunodeficiency (such as DiGeorge syndrome, Wiskott-Aldrich syndromes).
  • Advanced or untreated HIV infection.
  • Active treatment with high-dose corticosteroids (i.e., ≥20mg prednisone or equivalent per day), alkylating agents, antimetabolites, transplant-related immunosuppressive drugs, cancer chemotherapeutic agents classified as severely immunosuppressive, tumor-necrosis (TNF) blockers, and other biologic agents that are immunosuppressive or immunomodulatory

Regional Medical Center of Orangeburg & Calhoun Counties (RMC) will be administering the COVID-19 vaccine, while supplies last, from 9am - 1pm at RMC Express Care as listed below.


Vaccines:

  • Pfizer available as 1st, 2nd , 3rd dose for those who are 12 years of age and older
  • Moderna available as 1st, 2nd , 3rd dose for those who are 18 years of age and older

Children ages 5-11: RMC does not plan at this time to administer COVID vaccines to children ages 5-11. RMC does not have pediatric practices and rarely has pediatric inpatients.

No registration is required.

Parental/guardian consent will be required for anyone under 18 years old.


Vaccines will be administered on a first-come, first-serve, walk-in basis.

Regional Medical Center has implemented the following Visitor Guidelines:

1. The hospital has reinstated visitation. Visiting hours are 10:00am – 6:00pm effective Feb.18, 2022. Two visitors per day are allowed to visit inpatients in Non-COVID-19 units, seven days per week. This will include ICU and CCU patients. All approved visitors will be screened by staff before entering the hospital and may have to leave based on their screening results.

2. Patients are allowed a limited number of visitors at the end of life approved by the treating physician. If COVID positive patient is at the end of life, staff MUST accompany visitor to ensure visitor(s) are wearing appropriate PPE.

3. No visitors under 18 years of age in the hospital.

4. Maternity patients are allowed 1 support person during labor and delivery. It must be the same person for the duration of the patient’s stay.

5. Emergency Department is allowing one visitor to accompany a non-COVID-19 patient being treated in the Emergency department. If the lobby reaches capacity, visitors will not be allowed to stay with patients. The visitor must stay in the patient’s exam room at all times and may help settle the patient into his or her inpatient room if admitted. Use the direct entrance to the Emergency department upon arrival.

6. Vendors should have an appointment with the appropriate department. No cold calls are allowed.

7. Patients having inpatient surgery will be allowed only two visitors until 6 pm the day of surgery.

8. Patients receiving same day or other elective surgery will be allowed one support person during the duration of procedure and recovery.

9. Pediatric patients may have two visitors.

10. Patients requiring a caregiver due to patient’s memory/mental health concerns may have two caregivers.

12. Sleep Lab will resume operations for sleep studies. Two patients will be scheduled each night. Masking is required, and patients are encouraged to wear their own masks. A mask will be provided if patients do not have one. Patients are to enter through the Emergency Department for their 8:00 pm appointment.


13. HEALTHPLEX | Annex has returned to regular hours: 5:00 am to 10:00 pm (seven days a week) ) Masking is required and HEALTHPLEX members are encouraged to wear their own masks. A mask will be provided if members do not have one. Members must enter through the HEALTHPLEX entrance, lower level, RMC Annex Building.
14. All HEALTHPLEX fitness locations have reopened with limited capacity, masks are required to be worn upon entry and exiting:

  • HEALTHPLEX | Branchville: 5:00 am - 10:00 pm (seven days a week)
  • HEALTHPLEX | Holly Hill: 5:00 am - 10:00 pm (seven days a week)
  • HEALTHPLEX | St. Matthews: 5:00 am - 10:00 pm (seven days a week)
