Regional Medical Center has implemented the following Visitor Guidelines:

COVID-19 Updates at Regional Medical Center

Most recently RMC has seen an increase in COVID-19 inpatient admissions and an increase in the positivity rate of patients and community members being tested for COVID-19. The positivity rate is approximately 30%. It has been increasing over the past couple of weeks.

We are also seeing more of our staff contracting COVID -19 from exposure in the community.

Updated Visitation Policy

At the request of our medical staff, we are reinstating a more restrictive visitation policy for our patients. This is being put in place to protect our patients, our professional provider staff and our employees.

RMC implemented the following Updated Visitation Policy effective this past Saturday, July 30th. This policy will stay in place indefinitely and will be enforced by the front desk lobby staff and security officers.

  • COVID-19 screening questions for all visitors are reinstated.
  • Visiting Hours are 10:00am – 6:00pm daily.
  • No visitors allowed under the age of 18
  • Patients are allowed only one (1) visitor each day.
  • Visits to an end-of-life patient will be allowed if approved by the treating physician and the Administrator on Call (AOC).
  • HER PLACE/LABOR AND DELIVERY:
    • Patients may have two (2) visitors during labor. These individuals cannot be relieved by other visitors, only two (2) visitors for the day.
  • EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT:
    • Patients are allowed only one (1) visitor. There is only one exception for the ED: Any Pediatric patient may have the Mother and Father or an alternative family member, most likely the primary legal guardian, accompany the patient while in the ED.

There have been several occasions where multiple people have visited patients without proper authorization. The Administrator on Call (AOC) has the authority to make exceptions based on unusual circumstances. We realize this will not be received positively by the public, however, we have the responsibility to protect our patients and staff from being exposed to COVID-19.

Masking

Physicians, employees, visitors, and incoming patients arriving for care, testing or moving through the facility are required to wear a facemask while on a Regional Medical Center campus or in a physician office.

  • N-95 Masks are to be worn by anyone who has contact with patients. Replacement masks are available as needed from Employee Health or Nursing Supervisor and should be obtained when your mask does not fit snuggly to your face, the straps are broken or the mask is soiled.
