APPLY EARLY: 2016 Summer Enrichment Program for Students

Funded by RMC's Auxiliary, this program will offer students the opportunity to gain experience in a hospital setting. For six weeks, June 6-July 15, 2016, each student will be expected to work 20 hours a week and will be offered a stipend of $900 for the program duration.

Local Garden Clubs Bring Holiday Cheer to the Regional Medical Center

Area garden clubs recently brought holiday cheer to the Regional Medical Center by decorating Christmas trees in lobby areas and other public areas throughout the hospital. For the past 34 years, local garden clubs have dedicated their time, creativity and resources to decorate Christmas trees for the hospital, a tradition that began after construction of the current hospital was completed in 1981.

RMC to Host 20th Annual Safe Kids Super Saturday and 12th Annual Wellness Celebration

RMC along with Safe Kids of Orangeburg, Bamberg and Calhoun Counties and the RMC Foundation will host the 20th Annual Safe Kids Super Saturday event in conjunction with the 12th Annual Wellness Celebration at the Prince of Orange Mall on Saturday, August 29 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Safe Kids Super Saturday will promote safety and injury prevention among children, and the Wellness Celebration will promote mental and physical health, educate the public about available health resources, as well as feature exhibits from businesses and organizations.

For the 28th consecutive year, RMC offered area students the opportunity to gain practical experience in a hospital setting through the Summer Enrichment Program sponsored by the RMC Auxiliary. Two recent graduates of the Regional Medical Center's Summer Enrichment Program, Kayla Crider and JaNaysha Montgomery, received a scholarship toward pursuing their chosen career field of healthcare.

Mobile Mammography Coming Soon to a Town Near You …

RMC Mobile Services van allows staff to provide digital mammograms, information and education at remote sites throughout the area. Mammograms can detect very small lumps in the breast, even before they can be felt. The keys to surviving breast cancer are early detection and early treatment. The American Cancer Society recommends that women age 40 and older have a screening mammogram once a year. Protect Yourself from Colon Cancer: Colonoscopy Saves Lives

Colorectal cancer, or CRC, is the third leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States, killing nearly 50,000 people annually. Like many cancers, early detection increases the chances of successful treatment and survival. Colonoscopy is one of the best methods for the prevention of CRC.

RMC Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony to Be Held December 4

The RMC Auxiliary’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held Thurs., Dec.4, beginning at 6 p.m. in the lobby of RMC’s Admitting/Registration Entrance. Father-son duo, Windy and Jesse Greene, of Cameron, will entertain with a selection of holiday music. For more than 30 years RMC's Auxiliary has sponsored the Tree Lighting, which is the primary fund-raiser for the Auxiliary’s Verna Martin Compassionate Care Fund.

Palmer Joins RMC Board of Trustees

Vein Clinic Offering "FREE" Venous Disease Screenings on August 5

Do you have leg pain, or swelling, heaviness, restless legs and cramping, or varicose or spider veins? You’re not alone! An estimated 25 percent of women and 15 percent of men suffer from Venous Disease. Vein Clinic specialists at RMC will conduct FREE Venous Disease Screenings on Tuesday, August 5 beginning at 4:00 p.m. Registration is required so call 803-395-4555 to reserve an appointment. Note: Any follow-up testing or treatment as a result of this FREE screening will be the patient’s responsibility.

RMC Receives Grant from CVS Caremark Charitable Trust

The Regional Medical Center of Orangeburg & Calhoun Counties (RMC) has received a $34,125 grant from the CVS Caremark Charitable Trust, the private foundation created by CVS Caremark Corporation, whose purpose is to help people on their path to better health by providing funding for initiatives that support access to healthcare and children’s programming. The grant to the Regional Medical Center (RMC) is part of $2.6 million in grants awarded to 66 non-profit organizations across the country as part of the 2012 CVS Caremark Charitable Trust grant cycle.

RMC Dialysis Access Institute Medical Director John Ross, MD and others of the Dialysis Access Institute team perform more than 3,000 surgeries during the year, and physicians from throughout the United States and other countries are visiting RMC to be trained in these procedures.
