Gold Seal

The Regional Medical Center (RMC) is accredited by The Joint Commission. This means that we voluntarily submit to evaluations of our compliance with nationwide hospital standards on a continuing basis. The Joint Commission accreditation is your assurance that the Regional Medical Center practices continuous quality monitoring to provide you with quality healthcare.

Primary Stroke Center Certification

RMC has received the Joint Commission's Advanced Certification as a Primary Stroke Center. The commission recognizes centers that make exceptional efforts to foster better outcomes for stroke care. Achievement of certification signifies that the services you provide have the critical elements to achieve long-term success in improving outcomes. It is the best signal to your community that the quality care you provide is effectively managed to meet the unique and specialized needs of stroke patients. In fact, demonstrating compliance with these national standards and performance measurement expectations may help obtain contracts from employers and purchasers concerned with controlling costs and improving productivity.

Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Accreditation

RMC's Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine earned the Gold Seal of Approval by The Joint Commission through its Laboratory Accreditation Program. Accreditation signifies that RMC's Main Laboratory and its outpatient lab facilities demonstrate compliance with national standards for care directly affecting the quality and safety of diagnostic services and patient care.

Get With The Guidelines®–Heart Failure Gold Plus Quality Achievement
Get With The Guidelines®–Heart Failure helps RMC's staff develop and implement acute and secondary prevention guideline processes to improve patient care and outcomes. The program provides hospitals with a web-based patient management tool, best practice discharge protocols and standing orders, along with a robust registry and real-time benchmarking capabilities to track performance.

Get With The Guidelines®–Stroke Silver Plus Quality Achievement
Get With The Guidelines®–Stroke helps RMC's staff provide the most up-to-date, research-based guidelines with the goal of speeding recovery and reducing death and disability for stroke patients. The program provides hospitals with a web-based patient management tool, best practice discharge protocols and standing orders, along with a robust registry and real-time benchmarking capabilities to track performance.

Accredited by the American College of Radiology

RMC's Diagnostic Imaging (X-Ray) Department has received accreditation by the American College of Radiology (ACR) in the areas of mammography and Nuclear Medicine. The ACR accreditation ensures that RMC staff members are qualified through certifications, licensure and education. The equipment and the technologies used have been found to be of the highest quality, ensuring RMC either meets or exceeds quality assurance and safety guidelines. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field.  

     

Accreditation by the Intersocietal Commission for Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories

RMC's Vascular Center was among the first 1,000 vascular laboratories in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico to be granted this accreditation, which recognizes our Vascular Center’s commitment of quality testing for diagnosis of vascular disease. Participation in the accreditation process is voluntary and demonstrates the Vascular Center’s attention to a high level of patient care and quality testing.

Accredited by the American Society of Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrology

RMC's Dialysis Access Institute received accreditation by the American Society of Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrology (ASDIN). RMC is one of 14 facilities and one of six hospital-based programs in the United States to be granted accreditation as an Interventional Nephrology Training Program for Hemodialysis Vascular Access procedures.

The Blood Assurance Program at RMC is accredited by the American Association of Blood Banks and the Food and Drug Administration, and maintains the highest standards in blood collection and testing. That means that our patients and their families can be confident in the blood supply at our hospital.

Certified by American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation

RMC’s Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation program is one of a very few South Carolina programs that is nationally-certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, which recognizes facilities for its commitment to improving the quality of life by enhancing standards of care.

RMC’s Cafeteria is certified by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control with a Grade A Food Rating, which demonstrates our cafeteria’s compliance in food safety practices and cleanliness during DHEC inspections.
