Tri-County Affordable Care Act Work Group to Hold Insurance Sign up Events at Denmark Tech and OC Tech

The Tri-County Affordable Care Act Work Group led by Rep. Gilda Cobb-Hunter will hold health insurance enrollment events at Denmark Technical College and Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College on Wednesday, January 18 from 10:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at OC Tech, and from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Denmark Tech.

Health Insurance Navigators will help individuals free of charge to determine their best options for health insurance through the Health Insurance Marketplace and assist them with enrolling.

Navigators from the Palmetto Project will be available at OC Tech in Building S in the café area. Health Insurance Navigators from the Beaufort County Black Chamber of Commerce will be available at Denmark Tech in the Multicultural Building.

“If you don’t have healthcare insurance and want to get covered, these enrollment events are important. Through the Health Insurance Marketplace, there are 24 affordable South Carolina insurance plans with premiums as low as $75 a month,” said Rep. Cobb-Hunter.

Those interested in signing up for health insurance must bring their social security cards or document numbers, employer income information for every member of the household who needs coverage, and policy numbers for any current health insurance plans covering members of the household.

For more information about signing up, the Palmetto Project can be reached at 1-888-998-4646, and the Beaufort County Black Chamber of Commerce can be reached at 843-986-1102.
