RMC Welcomes Pediatric Hospitalist

Carlos Paxtor, MD a board-certified pediatrician, has joined the Regional Medical Center (RMC) as a pediatric hospitalist.

“Dr. Paxtor is a great addition to our pediatric hospitalist team. He has extensive research experience and clinical experience as a hospitalist and in private practice that will benefit our youngest patients,” said RMC Hospitalist Program Medical Director Kenechukwu Ntukogu, MD. “Dr. Paxtor is also fluent in English and Spanish, which will be an asset to our diverse patient population.”

Prior to joining RMC, Dr. Paxtor has served as chairman of the Pediatrics Department at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, SC, and is currently in private practice at Sunshine Pediatrics in Rock Hill, S.C.

Dr. Paxtor completed his residency in pediatrics at Tod Children’s Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio, and served his internship and another residency in pediatrics at the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Women & Children in Orlando, Fla. He completed a fellowship in neonatology and a third residency at the Guatemalan Social Security Institute Hospital in Guatemala City, Guatemala C.A. He completed a transitional internship and elective in pediatrics at San Juan de Dios General Hospital in Guatemala City, Guatemala C.A. He received his Doctorate of Medicine from San Carlos University of Guatemala School of Medicine in Guatemala City, Guatemala C.A. He received his Bachelor of Science from the Central National Institute for Men in Guatemala City, Guatemala C.A.

Dr. Paxtor is a member of the York County Medical Society, the American Board of Pediatrics, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Guatemalan Pediatric Association and the Guatemalan Physicians and Surgeons College.

The RMC healthcare system includes a 286-bed, acute-care hospital and 21 primary care and specialty care practices. RMC is affiliated with MUSC Health, the largest academic teaching facility in South Carolina, to further enhance select healthcare services for patients in the region.
