RMC to Celebrate National Hospital Week, May 7-13

The Regional Medical Center will observe National Hospital Week, May 7-13. National Hospital Week provides an opportunity to celebrate the men and women who care for the health and wellbeing of communities across the nation.

“During National Hospital Week, we honor our dedicated staff who are the healing heart of healthcare and who help fulfill RMC's mission ‘to deliver high quality, compassionate care to everyone we touch every day,’” said RMC Interim President & CEO Bert Whitaker.

In recognition of National Hospital Week, RMC will host a beach-themed luncheon for staff. The event will include door prizes, music and Zumba.

The nation’s largest healthcare event, National Hospital Week dates back to 1921 when it was suggested by a magazine editor who hoped a community-wide celebration would alleviate public fears about hospitals. The celebration, launched in Chicago, succeeded in promoting trust and goodwill among members of the public and eventually spread to facilities across the country.

The RMC healthcare system includes a 286-bed, acute-care hospital with Advanced Primary Stroke Center certification and a Level III Trauma Center designation, as well as 22 primary and specialty care practices. RMC is affiliated with MUSC Health, the largest academic teaching facility in South Carolina, to further enhance select healthcare services for patients in the region.
