RMC Restricts Visitation Due to Flu
The Regional Medical Center (RMC) has implemented visitation safety restrictions in response to an increase in influenza cases at the hospital recently.
“We have seen an increase in the number of flu cases as the season has progressed,” said RMC Infectious Disease Specialist John Samies, MD, “To protect our patients and their families, we have closed the doors to all inpatient units and have restricted visitation to immediate family members over the age of 12 only. Children under the age of 12 will not be permitted to enter any of the inpatient units.”
If a potential visitor or any of the visitor’s family members are experiencing any flu-like symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, headache or body aches, they are asked not to visit until they are better, as flu can be contagious even if the ill are asymptomatic or if symptoms have yet to occur.
