RMC Offers Special Incentive for Blood Donors Over Holiday Season

To encourage holiday blood donations, the Regional Medical Center (RMC) Blood Assurance Program will offer a free one-pound bag of Starbucks® coffee to donors at the RMC Blood Donor Center from Monday, December 26 through Friday, December 30.

“Holiday travel, trauma and illness can really put a strain on blood supplies in healthcare facilities,” said RMC Blood Donor Coordinator Richard Miller. “It is so important that we keep our supply steady so we are ready for all potential recipients, and we rely on the support of the community to keep blood stocked.”

The RMC Blood Donor Center and Bloodmobile supply all of the blood needed for the hospital. Whole blood donations have a shelf life of 21 to 35 days, making timely donations critical for supplies to remain at adequate levels.

The Blood Donor Center will be open Monday, December 26 through Friday December 30 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The Blood Donor Center will be closed Saturday, December 31, in observance of New Year’s Eve. Appointments are encouraged, but walk-in donors are welcomed. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 803-395-2419 (toll free in S.C. 1-800-476-3377, ext. 2419).
