RMC Nurse Earns Certification in Healthcare Quality
The Regional Medical Center’s (RMC) Quality Coordinator Donna Moorer, BSN, RN, CPHQ was recently accredited as a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ).
As a CPHQ Quality Coordinator, Moorer addresses issues in the workplace such as medication reconciliation, mortality and incident rate reduction, risk management, core measures, patient safety, and quality management and improvement. She also assists in ensuring RMC meets the requirements set forth by accrediting bodies for healthcare organizations and programs such as The Joint Commission and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
CPHQ accredited care providers are certified by the National Association for Healthcare Quality (NAHQ). The CPHQ is the only certification in the profession of healthcare quality and is fully accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies of the Institute for Credentialing Excellence in Washington, D.C.
According to NAHQ, CPHQ certification incorporates the body of knowledge in the healthcare quality profession which includes strategic and operational roles in management and leadership, information management, performance and quality measurement and improvement, and strategic and operational tasks in patient safety.
CPHQ certification positively impacts patient care and plays a critical role in the clinical outcomes and financial stability of healthcare organizations through continuous improvement initiatives, monitoring and analysis of processes and outcomes, integration of new evidence-based practices, and maintaining high quality standards.
Moorer currently works in the Quality Management Department and has been employed at RMC for 21 years. She received her BSN from the University of South Carolina Upstate in 2008 and graduated from Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College with an an ADN in 1994.
