RMC Honors Three Nurses with Awards of Excellence

Three Regional Medical Center nurses were recently honored with Awards of Excellence.

Kenneth Fogle, RN, and Jesse West, RN, were honored as Nurses of the Year in General Units/Supervisory Care and Specialty Care, respectively. The Nurses of the Year are selected annually by the RMC medical staff; honorees are chosen based on clinical skills, devotion and compassion.

Elizabeth Benskin, RN, BSN, received the Nightingale Award for Excellence in Nursing. Presented annually, the recipient is nominated by members of RMC's nursing staff. Honorees must demonstrate clinical excellence and concern for patients, family and co-workers; demonstrate leadership; and possess enthusiasm while having a healthy work ethic.

The awards were presented on May 12, at the culmination of RMC’s celebration of National Nurses’ Week. The Nurses Week celebration also included a Food Truck Festival, Vendor Market and other special activities.

2017 Nurse of the Year – General Units/Supervisory Care

Fourth West Staff Nurse Ken Fogle, RN, joined RMC in June 2012. He is a native of and currently resides in Norway, S.C. Fogle received his associate degree in nursing from Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College.

Fogle is married to Laurie Fogle and has two children Kenneth Fogle III and Emma Grace Fogle. He attends St. John’s United Methodist Church in Norway, S.C.

Jesse West, RN
2017 Nurse of the Year – Specialty Care


Emergency Department Clinical Coordinator Jesse West, RN, joined RMC in 2007. She is a native of and currently resides in Orangeburg. She earned an associate degree in nursing from Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College.

West is married to Daniel West and has two daughters Kearsen West and Jillian West. She also is working toward her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.

Elizabeth Benskin, RN, BSN
2017 Nightingale Award for Excellence in Nursing


Clinical Coordinator of Fourth West Elizabeth Benskin, RN, BSN, joined RMC in May 2005. She is a native of Orangeburg, S.C., and currently resides in Cameron, S.C.

Benskin earned her associate degree in nursing from Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of South Carolina – Upstate. She has three dogs and two cats.
