RMC Adds Guest Shuttle Service

The Regional Medical Center (RMC) has added a complimentary on-site Guest Shuttle service to assist patients, their family members and friends with transportation around the main hospital campus.

“We are proud to offer this service. A worry for many of our patients – particularly our elderly population – is how far they will have to walk to get to their destination once they arrive on campus. Now, they can take the shuttle which will pick them up from their vehicles and transport them to any of RMC’s entrances,” said RMC Vice President of Strategy & Compliance Brenda Williams, MHA, FACHE.

Currently, the six-passenger golf cart shuttle runs on a regular route through RMC’s parking lots. Drop off/pick up points include: Main Entrance, Patient Registration, Emergency Department, Dialysis Access Institute, Annex, and HEALTHPLEX.

Guests can call the shuttle driver at 803-662-4410 to be picked up at their vehicle or at an RMC entrance.

“We are always looking for ways to enhance the experiences of our patients and their family members and friends,” said Williams. “The Guest Shuttle is a wonderful addition.”

The RMC healthcare system includes a 286-bed, acute-care hospital and 21 primary care and specialty care practices. RMC is certified by The Joint Commission, has Advanced Certification as a Primary Stroke Center, and is designated as a Level III Trauma Center. RMC is affiliated with MUSC Health, the largest academic teaching facility in South Carolina, to further enhance select healthcare services for patients in the region.
