Donors Needed at RMC Blood Donor Center While Bloodmobile is Being Repaired

Community members are encouraged to donate blood at the Regional Medical Center Blood Donor Center on the first floor of the hospital, while the bloodmobile is being repaired.

The Regional Medical Center Blood Assurance Program is asking community members to donate blood at the RMC Blood Donor Center while the bloodmobile is in the shop for repair.

Community members can visit the Blood Donor Center on the first floor of the Regional Medical Center between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturdays. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are strongly encouraged. To set up an appointment to donate blood or for any other information, please call 803-395-2419 (toll free in S.C. 800-476-3377, ext. 2419).

“The need for blood never takes a day off, so we strongly encourage anyone who can donate to visit the Blood Donor Center,” commented Blood Assurance Coordinator

Jessica Meier, BS, MLS (ASCP)CM. “Summer time is the hardest for any blood centers, so the need for donors at the Blood Donor Center is even more important during this downtime.”

Accredited by the American Association of Blood Banks and the Food and Drug Administration, the Regional Medical Center’s Blood Assurance Program is one of two independent, community-based blood donor programs in South Carolina. All blood collected at the RMC Blood Donor Center and on the RMC Bloodmobile stays in the community.
