Hyperbaric oxygen therapy at the Advanced Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Center at the Regional Medical Center, Orangeburg, SCHyperbaric Medicine
The Advanced Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Center provides hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), which stimulates circulation and promotes healing. In an HBOT session, the patient is placed in a cylindrical acrylic chamber with 100 percent oxygen under pressure, which delivers high concentrations of oxygen to the bloodstream, accelerating the healing rate of wounds and stimulating growth of new blood vessels. HBOT is painless and typically requires neither pain medication nor sedation.

Patients who benefit from HBOT include those diagnosed with problematic, non-healing wounds such as diabetic wounds, chronic bone infection, acute arterial insufficiency, radiation-related problems, necrotizing infections, gas gangrene, carbon monoxide poisoning, crush injuries and other non-healing wounds.

Located on the first floor of the Regional Medical Center between Inpatient/Outpatient Registration and the Emergency Department, the Advanced Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Center is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For more information, call (803) 395-2471 (toll free in S.C.: 800-476-3377, ext. 2471).
