Regional Medical Center’s Wound Center treats the largest number of wound patients in South Carolina.
The Wound Center provides outpatient treatment and management of pressure ulcers and chronic wounds resulting from diabetes, sickle cell anemia, venous and arterial disease, as well as care and education to patients with ostomies and incontinence.
The wound team, which includes certified nurses, a licensed and wound- certified physical therapist and an infectious disease physician who is a certified wound specialist, employs advanced wound care treatments such as negative pressure wound therapy, pulsed lavage, MIST ultrasound therapy and bio-engineered tissue grafts to enhance wound healing and improve circulation. Wound Center patients who require intravenous antibiotics can now receive them as part of the Wound Center’s outpatient services. | |
