John H. Hayden Jr., M.D.

Edisto Regional Health Services (ERHS), an affiliate of the Regional Medical Center (RMC), is pleased to announce that it has established a new medical office, Edisto Family Practice, with John H. Hayden Jr., M.D.

Dr. Hayden, a native of Cope, opened the practice this week at 1619 Carolina Avenue in Orangeburg across from the Orangeburg County Health Department.

“We welcome Dr. Hayden’s Edisto Family Practice to the ERHS and Regional Medical Center families,” said Regional Medical Center CEO Tom Dandridge. “There is currently a shortage of family doctors in this area, and it is wonderful to have a physician who is from here opening up a new family practice.”

“I look forward to establishing on-going relationships with patients,” said Dr. Hayden. “We want to be available when our patients need us. We will take appointments but walk-ins will also be welcome.”

Dr. Hayden received his medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia. He completed an internship and his residency in family practice at Palmetto Richland Hospital and served as co-chief resident of the residency program in his third year. Prior to medical school, Dr. Hayden received a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy from the Medical University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy in Charleston. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Newberry College. He received his board certification by the American Board of Family Medicine in 2004.

His prior career experience includes working as a staff physician in the emergency department at Allendale County Hospital in Fairfax, SC and working in private practice at Bamberg Family Practice in Bamberg, SC.

Edisto Family Practice office hours are: Monday – Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon. For appointments please call 803-531-7474.
