Singh Is Junior Volunteer of the Year

Pooja Singh of Orangeburg was
recently named RMC’s
“Junior Volunteer of the Year.”
Pooja Singh, a native of Orangeburg, was recently named the Regional Medical Center’s “Junior Volunteer of the Year.” Her fellow junior volunteers chose her for this honor based on her genuine caring nature, warm personality and support for her peers.

Singh joined the junior volunteer program of RMC’s Auxiliary in June 2008 and has served some 300 hours at the medical center. Her junior volunteer duties included delivering mail and flowers, assisting visitors and callers at the Information Desk, and assisting staff at the Breast Health Center Boutique and in Patient Account Services. She recently completed her term as president of the junior volunteers.

“The junior volunteer program is great for students seeking a career in the medical field. It allows one to observe what goes on in a hospital environment and encourages students to further a career in healthcare. I personally have had a remarkable experience as a junior volunteer, being surrounded by a wonderful and welcoming staff. Everything I have learned and experienced here will help me in any hospital setting in my future,” she commented.

A graduate of Orangeburg Wilkinson High School, Singh plans to attend the College of Charleston and pursue a career in pharmacy.

She is the daughter of Shri and Urmila Singh of Orangeburg.
