| Benjamin Glover, a native of Eutawville, was recently named the Regional Medical Center’s “Junior Volunteer of the Year.” His fellow junior volunteers chose him for this honor based on his genuine caring nature, dependability, warm personality and support for his peers.
“Benjamin is our first male to receive the Junior Volunteer of the Year Award,” said Pat Whetsell, assistant director of Volunteer Services. “We are so pleased that more young men in our community are becoming interested in this special volunteer program.”
“A very personable young man, Benjamin seems to thoroughly enjoy helping others, while learning about many different healthcare services. His warm smile brightens the day for everyone he greets and assists at RMC.”
Glover joined the junior volunteer program of RMC’s Auxiliary in June 2009 and has served more than 100 hours at the medical center. His junior volunteer duties have included working at the Information Desk, Receiving, Transport Services and helping in the Volunteer Office.
“I’ve enjoyed everything I participated in so far, and I hope to learn more every day I volunteer. In the end, it’s my goal to learn as much as possible about the ins and outs of the hospital and treasure it in the future. Every day it is something new: a new duty, new people or a new method in doing things,” Glover stated.
A senior at Lake Marion High School and Technology Center; where he is a member of Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA), Glover plans to pursue a healthcare career in psychology. In addition to his school activities and volunteer service, he has a part-time job. He is the son of John and Linda Glover of Eutawville. |
