The new RMC Vein Clinic opened several months ago. An estimated 25 percent of women and 15 percent of men suffer from venous disease. Symptoms include: varicose veins, restless legs and venous ulcers; aching, fatigue or heaviness in legs; throbbing or burning leg pain; and/or cramping, swelling and numbness in the leg. If left untreated, venous disease can lead to blood clots, skin ulcerations and other serious complications. The Vein Clinic offers free venous disease screenings each month. It is estimated that heredity plays a role in 80 percent of all venous disease cases. Other causes include aging, obesity, leg trauma, hormones, pregnancy and occupations that require prolonged standing or sitting. Vein treatments are performed on an outpatient basis at the Vein Clinic, and four of RMC’s board-certified general surgeons, Julius Babb, MD, Dion Franga, MD, Michael Hill, MD, and Joseph Redcross, DO, are performing these most advanced venous disease procedures.

RMC’s Mobile Services Van has the equipment and capacity so that RMC staff can provide digital mammography, vascular screening, vein screening, ultrasound, health screenings and health education at sites throughout Orangeburg and Calhoun counties and surrounding areas.
