Interested in a Nursing Career? Applications Now Available for RMC Foundation Virginia B. Johnson Nursing Scholarship
The Regional Medical Center Foundation announces applications are being accepted for Virginia B. Johnson Scholarships to be awarded for Fall 2010.
Now in its 10th year, the scholarship was established in honor of Virginia Blount Johnson, a registered nurse and beloved community leader and healthcare advocate, who left her indelible mark on the Orangeburg community. In her memory and through this scholarship, prospective nurses are receiving help in achieving their career goals. Since 2001, grants totaling $83,500 have been made to 114 nursing students.
Only students who are pursuing R.N. credentials through an associate’s, a bachelor’s or a graduate nursing degree offered by an accredited program are eligible. Beginning this year the Scholarship Committee will place increased emphasis on academic achievement. Applicants must be in or beginning at least the second year of their program and have posted a GPA of at least 3.0 during the most recent semester. Must also be a resident of Orangeburg or Calhoun counties of South Carolina or be a resident of an adjacent county enrolled in an accredited program in Orangeburg.
