Members of the community are invited to a drop-in honoring Robert W. Rhame Jr., MD, and welcoming Adam A. Allie, MD, and Antionette A. Bennett, MD, on Tuesday, October 11, at Family Practice Associates of Holly Hill. The event will take place from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Located at 187 Bunch Ford Road, Family Practice Associates of Holly Hill is owned by Edisto Regional Health Services (ERHS), an affiliate of the Regional Medical Center (RMC).

After serving the healthcare needs of the Holly Hill community for 30 years, Robert W. Rhame Jr., MD, has departed Family Practice Associates of Holly Hill to serve as the medical director of the Amedisys Hospice, which provides care to patients of Orangeburg and the surrounding counties, and as a staff physician at the Clarendon Memorial Hospital Emergency Department.

“It had been my life’s goal to return to Holly Hill and practice medicine,” said Dr. Rhame. “I look back with great pride that I have played a role in meeting the healthcare needs of our rural communities. The evolving presence and commitment of the Regional Medical Center in our community provides great assurance to me that the growing healthcare needs of our communities will be met.”

Dr. Rhame received his undergraduate degree from The Citadel and his doctorate in medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He served his residency in family medicine at the Spartanburg Regional Hospital in Spartanburg.

Dr. Rhame joined Dr. Steven F. Bull in practice in 1982. It was their plan since junior high school to practice together in Holly Hill. In 1984 they built and moved into their practice facility on Bunch Ford Road.

“The staff at Holly Hill Family Medicine has been a great support and inspiration to me,” he said. “Their love and that of my family and patients has strengthened me over the past thirty years. I greatly miss my staff and all of my patients. I thank Dr. Steven Bull for the privilege of working alongside him these many years. I wish to thank each and every one of my patients for entrusting their healthcare to me over the past three decades; I will miss you all. I also want to thank the staff at the practice, both past and present; I miss them very much.”

Dr. Rhame is board certified in hospice and palliative care medicine and in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine. He is a certified hypertension specialist and has served on the board of directors of the South Carolina Academy of Family Physicians. He has served on the faculty of the Medical University of South Carolina, the University of South Carolina and the endoscopy faculty of the American Academy of Family Physicians.

The drop-in event will be an opportunity, also, to meet Holly Hill’s new physicians.

A native of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Dr. Allie received his medical degree from West Virginia University School of Medicine in Morgantown.

He completed an internship at AnMed Health in Anderson, S.C., and his residency in family practice at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital in Kingsport, Tenn.

Prior to medical school, Dr. Allie received a bachelor of science degree in biology/psychology from the University of South Carolina in Columbia.

Dr. Bennett, a native of Wadmalaw Island, S.C., received her medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

She completed an internship and her residency in family practice at Carolinas Medical Center - NorthEast in Concord, N.C.

Dr. Bennett received a master’s degree in clinical laboratory science from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston and her bachelor‘s degree in medical technology from Lander University in Greenwood, S.C.
