Barber Named President of New S.C. Hospital Association Organization

Betty Barber, Executive Assistant to the President & CEO at the Regional Medical Center of Orangeburg & Calhoun Counties, was recently elected President of the newly formed South Carolina Executive Assistants in Healthcare, a new Personal Membership Group of the South Carolina Hospital Association.

Membership is composed of individuals who serve as support staff to the executive and senior leadership in healthcare facilities. The mission of SCEAH is to advance professional development, leadership and excellence in administrative professionals with healthcare careers through education, communication and advocacy.

Barber has served in the role of Executive Assistant to the President at the Regional Medical Center for 28 years. She also serves as secretary to the RMC’s Board of Trustees.

Also, Barber is serving as the 2009-2010 President of the Association of Healthcare Administrative Professionals (AHCAP). The only national organization dedicated to those who support the nation’s top healthcare leaders, AHCAP is a non-profit healthcare organization for executive assistants, administrative assistants and other professionals reporting to healthcare management. It has more than 600 members and is the largest professional membership organization committed exclusively to healthcare executive assistants. During Barber’s tenure with AHCAP, she has served on numerous committees, including, Membership, Scholarship, Conference Planning and Nominating. Most recently she served as chairman of Membership. She received AHCAP’s 2006 Award of Distinction and was elected to the Board of Directors in 2007.
