John Samies, M.D. | The Regional Medical Center’s Wound Center and Infection Prevention & Control Department are presenting a free educational forum on MRSA (Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus), on Tuesday, November 13, from 7-9 p.m. MRSA is a type of staph infection that is resistant to most antibiotics.
The forum will be held at O-C Technical College Building R Auditorium. Building R is the new building on the front part of the campus and is closest to the Interstate. Parking is available near Building R.
Dr. John Samies, chairman of RMC’s Infection Control Committee, will be the featured speaker. Dr. Samies has lectured nationally and internationally on various infectious disease topics, including MRSA. “MRSA is a frequent topic on the national level, and our community is very interested in being informed about the specifics of it and what preventive measures they can follow, “ noted Dr. Samies. “Our intent is to keep our community informed, dispel myths and promote a healthier community. Because there is so much interest and confusion, as well as fear about MRSA, we are providing this free forum to educate our citizens.”
Seating is limited for the forum, and early registration is recommended. Please call the Regional Medical Center at 395-2427 to register. |
